Aicok Slow Masticating Juicer Review 2024

Although not one of the best known brands, Aicok makes some seriously impressive entry level masticating juicers.

Overall these things have long had a reputation for being big, bulky – and expensive – appliances, but as their popularity has grown, so has the market.

In my Aicok masticating juicer review, I’m taking a closer look at one of the company’s most popular machines. Can it really deliver results at a budget-friendly price point?

(My guide to juicing and blending at home contains plenty more tutorials and buying tips!)

What To Look For In A Masticating Juicer

The first thing to consider is the type of juice you’ll want to make in your masticating juicer.

Some of these appliances doing a really good job at handling soft fruits and vegetables, for example. Others thrive on leafy greens like kale and spinach.

The most advanced machines will squash and squeeze every last drop of juice from pretty much any ingredient – but expect to pay a premium for this sort of versatility.

Regardless, if you’re looking to work with leafy greens in particular then you should always favor a masticating juicer over a centrifugal juicer.

The latter operate at high speed (and so get your juice prepared more quickly), but leave a lot more grit in your drink. Personally I find this really unpleasant!

About The Aicok Slow Masticating Juicer

Aicok isn’t the best known kitchen appliance manufacturer, but its juicers have caused quite a stir in recent years.

This model in particular offers a way for home juicing fans on a budget to access a type of machine that’s usually reserved for those with deeper wallets.

The Aicock Slow Masticating Juicer is one of the company’s most popular brands, and has absolutely demolished the barrier to entry for slow juicing.

It does have its limitations, however.

It delivers an impressive yield from traditionally tricky ingredients like leafy greens, but it’s not quite as good at tackling soft fruits and vegetables.

It’ll get the job done – don’t get me wrong – but I think this slow juicer is much better for those of you who are specifically looking to make green juices.

Who’s It For?

If you’re a newcomer to juicing, or you have limited budget, this Aicok slow juicer is a really good option.

It offers very high performance considering the price tag, and gets a great yield from the ingredients you feed it.

As I’ve mentioned though, it’s most adapt at tackling things like leafy greens rather than soft fruits.

Who’s It Not For?

I don’t think this juicer is ideal if you need maximum versatility from a slow juicer.

It will make decent juices from softer fruits, but this is really designed for tackling tougher ingredients. You get a better juice extraction, and a higher quality drink if you focus on things like leafy greens.

If that doesn’t sound like you, scroll down the page to where I’ve listed some alternatives you might want to explore instead.

Pros

  • A very affordable way of accessing the traditionally expensive world of cold press juicers.
  • Well built and durable, despite the lower cost.
  • A slow, steady operating speed ensures maximum juice and nutrient extraction.
  • Performs particularly well with ingredients like celery, wheatgrass and leafy greens.
  • Low speed means a low operating noise! This is a great if you need to keep the peace in your household.
  • Plastic components are certified as BPA-free.
  • Reverse function makes it easy to unclog the machine as you learn how to load it sensibly!

Cons

  • Slower than a typical centrifugal juicer, although that’s not a fault of this specific machine.
  • It’s not as “fire and forget” as a centrifugal juicer. You’ll need to do a little prep work and chop your veggies.
  • Not suitable for making more delicate things like purees, salsas or baby food.
  • It’s much better at tackling tough ingredients than soft ones. Be sure you’ll be using this juicer for the right kind of juice (ie greens)

Aicok Slow Masticating Juicer Review

That’s a very basic overview of the Aicock Slow Masticating Juicer, then.

In the next section of my review I’m going to take a much closer look at this appliance’s key features.

(I also have a guide to the best cold press juicers if you want to see how the Aicok machined as a budget general juicing machine.)

Motor

The first thing that might surprise you about this appliance is the motor speed. With a 150 watt power rating, you might think you’re being sold a little short.

That only really matters if you’re comparing it to something like a centrifugal juicer though. By design, these operate at blistering speeds, and so require a power rating to match.

Your cold press juicer works much more slowly than this, however.

In doing so, the appliance generates less heat and oxygen, which helps preserve all of those lovely nutrients.

If you store your juice in an appropriate container first, this also means it’ll have a much longer shelf life in the refrigerator.

This Aicok juicer operates at a slow and steady speed of 80rpm. That’s a great, steady pace to get a good yield from the ingredients without introducing heat and oxygen.

Noise

This particular Aicok juicer is very stable on the countertop. It operates slowly as it grinds and chews its way through the ingredients, and doesn’t make any movement as it does so.

This slow operating speed also means it won’t make a lot of noise either. Aicok itself rates the noise levels at 60 decibels.

I don’t own a sound measuring meter to check this myself, but I don’t believe the Aicok makes anything like an unacceptable level of noise. This is really handy if you have very young children, or if you’re the first one up in the house each morning.

You can absolutely hold a conversation with someone while the juicer does its thing. That’s about as much as you can ask of any kitchen appliance.

Ease of Use

I think this juicer’s pretty easy to operate overall.

There are only six juicer parts you need to assemble, so it isn’t completely impractical to store this thing away and reassemble it for occasional use.

If you’re an old hand at using a masticating juicer then you’ll be able to put this thing together in a flash. I think even newcomers will get up to speed very quickly too.

On that note, I love the reverse function that’s built into the controls. As a new owner you’ll almost certainly work it too hard while you’re learning the ropes. While you’re finding your feet with a new juicer, it’s handy to be able to unclog it with a button press

Eventually though you’ll get a feel for what this juicer can handle, and the pace you should be working at to feed each ingredient to it.

Cleaning

I don’t need to tell you that you can’t put an electrical motor base in the dishwasher! It does wipe up pretty clean with just a damp cloth though. Do this after each use and you’ll keep the thing in fine working order.

The really good news is that all of the removable parts are dishwasher safe. If you run them through the machine on the top rack, they’ll scrub up just fine.

The only part of this juicer that you will need to clean manually is the strainer. As you can imagine, this attracts all kinds of gunk, and you will need to wash it out carefully.

Handily, you get a little cleaning brush in the box. It’s not particularly durable, but it does a really good job of scraping out the strainer.

Warranty

A 2 year warranty is quite generous considering the low cost of the Aicok. Normally you’d expect these things to come with a single year at most (and no doubt the machine packs up at a year and a day…)

It’s reassuring to get this kind of backup at this level of investment. Aicok gets a big tick from me for pushing the boat out a little further when it comes to support.

Alternatives

Aicok’s masticating juicer is designed to provide an affordable entry-level point for those of you with a close eye on the budget.

As I’ve outlined though, it does have its limitations in terms of suitable ingredients. It’s worth considering some alternative products before committing to the Aicok.

They require a bigger investment, but they may offer you enough extra versatility to justify the extra cost.

Omega MM900HDS

Omega’s one of the biggest names in the world of juicers, and its midrange MM900HDS juicer is an excellent option if you want a truly versatile appliance.

The Dual Stage masticating technology built into this juicer works incredibly hard to get all of the nutrients, vitamins and flavor out of your ingredients.

The high juice yield is seriously impressive as well, and it’ll work as well with soft fruits and veggies as it does with leafy greens. The more juice you can extract from the ingredients, the lower your grocery bills will be in the long run.

Does it cost more than the Aicok? Yes.

But consider the 15 year warranty Omega offers as standard for parts and performance. You can get through many a juicer in that timeframe, and so I think it’s a very good option if your budget can handle the upfront cost.

AMZCHEF Slow Masticating Juicer

AMZCHEF is another brand that might be new to you, but its flagship juicer is both popular and exceptionally good value.

The juice yield is impressive, although you might find the relatively narrow feed chute to be a bit of a pain if you’re working in larger batches.

It’s very easy to disassemble for cleaning as well, and so if you don’t have much experience with masticating juicers you should be able to get to grips with it very quickly.

Perhaps the biggest selling point of this juicer though is its very low noise levels. If you live in a household where silence really is golden, you might like to consider this one over the other options.

Verdict

If you know you’re going to focus your juicing on leafy greens, then I think the Aicok juicer is a fantastic option.

It’s not only one of the most affordable slow juicers on the market, what it does it does really well. I’ve used more expensive juicers that don’t do nearly as good a job at chewing through greens.

The juice quality and yield is impressive, and it’s extremely easy to operate and clean as well.

Frequently Asked Questions

Just to wrap things up I wanted to answer a few of the most common questions people have about Aicok juicers.

Is An Aicok Juicer Good?

I think so. A lot of us have a tendency to shy away from less familiar brands, but these folks have to work harder to win over their audience.

Each machine tends to specialize at processing different ingredient types though, so it’s important to do your homework and make sure the appliance will actually excel at what you want to focus on.

For super-powered, all-purpose juicers you might want to look at other brands such as Breville. This is a more familiar household name, and its juicers – both centrifugal and masticating – are some of the most popular appliances on the market.

Is A Slow Masticating Juicer Better?

In terms of juice quality and results, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend one of these devices over a centrifugal juicer.

They work more slowly, and so they create less foam on the finished drink. That slow speed also reduces friction heat and oxidization, which reduces the shelf-life of your juice.

As you can probably guess though, the flipside of that quality is you have to sacrifice a little convenience. Centrifugal juicers get the job done much faster than their masticating counterparts, but I’m not as satisfied with the quality.
