In the next section I’m taking a closer look at these three top picks, along with a couple of others you might be interested in too.

Breville BJE200XL Compact Juice Fountain

You’ll always get the best celery juice results from a masticating juicer, but I wanted to include a faster centrifugal appliance on this list as well.

For my money, the Breville BJE200XL Juice Fountain is the best of this particular bunch.

It’s extremely efficient in operation, with a powerful motor that makes light work of celery – or whatever else – you decide to feed it.

It does a good job of extracting the pulp from the produce as well, which means you don’t get any unwanted gunk in your drink.

The feeding tube is reasonably sized as well at 3 inches. That should make juicing celery, fruit or any vegetables a doddle. You might need to do some rough chopping for larger items, but this is a pretty standard size.

Breville’s reputation for build quality carries through to the BJE200XL juicer. It’s a tough, weighty machine that’s built from a combination of stainless steel and high quality polymer.

The end results from a centrifugal juicer are always going to fall behind a masticating slow juicer. Still, the juice from the BJE200XL is impressive stuff, and it’s a tremendously versatile juicer too.

This is the one to pick if you want to enjoy high quality juice from a versatile juicer, with a very quick and easy turnaround.

Pros

  • Extremely fast and convenient celery juice (or any juice for that matter!)
  • A well-built juicer from a trusted brand.
  • One of the most affordable juicers I’ve reviewed.
  • Pulp ejection system makes for a much more pleasant juice.

Cons

  • You won’t get the same nutritional results from a centrifugal juicer.
  • Similarly, you’ll get a lower juice yield from the produce you buy.
  • Makes more noise than a masticating juicer.
  • Pulp chamber fills quickly, which can slow batch juicing down.

AICOK Slow Masticating Juicer

The Aicok brand isn’t as well known as it should be in my opinion.

The company’s carved out an enviable position for itself, producing value for money juicers that punch above their weight in performance.

No products found.

This particular slow celery juicer is one of the more affordable masticating juicers available on the market right now.

To improve the juice yield even further, this Aicok juicer also features a cleverly designed, seven segment spiral system that chews efficiently through your celery while keeping oxidation low.

It also automatically ejects the pulp as it goes, so you don’t have to stop and start the thing. Masticating juicing can take a while to work at the best of times, so this is a simple but very welcome feature.

The materials used here feel very solid, and it’s easy to clean as well.

With a few exceptions, most of the components can be run through the dishwasher. Juicing can be a messy business so any help with the cleaning up process is always appreciated in my kitchen.

It’s also got a reverse function which makes it easy to force back anything that gets stuck.

Despite being an affordable masticating juicer, the Aicok comes with a 2 year warranty.

That’s pretty generous compared to the standard 1 year warranty, and so I think this appliance represents good value for money if you’re just starting to dip your toes into celery juicing.

(Take a look at my review of the Aicok Slow Masticating Juicer to learn more about this impressive budget juicing machine!)

Pros

  • Extremely quiet operation. I can’t measure the sound myself, but the manufacturer cites 60 decibels.
  • Easy to clean thanks to a number of dishwasher safe parts.
  • Pulp ejection system keeps the juice flowing without interruption.
  • A very affordable masticating juice machine.

Cons

  • Comparatively small feed chute means more prep work.
  • Certain elements – like the strainer – take more effort to clean by hand.
  • Not suitable for operating for more than 20 minute at a time.
  • Certain produce can create a quiet – but annoying – squeaking noise.

Omega MM900HDS Celery Juicer

Omega’s MM900HDS celery juicer is based on the company’s well established 8006 juicer model.

As the name suggests though, this is an Omega juicer with a very specific focus on tackling celery!

The extra design tweak here comes in the form of a celery end cap on the feed tube. This is adjustable, and allows you to get even more juice out of your celery stalks.

You’re not limited to juicing celery, of course. It’ll handle all the other fruit and veg you might want to juice, but that extra function really helps get the most out of celery in particular.

This is a slow and steady juicer, operating at 80 RPM to minimize heat buildup and oxidation. You get a very finely juiced celery drink at the end of it, and you’re not losing any of the nutrients in the process.

Omega offers generous warranties on all of its juicers, and the Omega MM900HDS Celery Juicer is no exception.

Here you have a full 15 years of protection which guarantees parts and performance. That’s even more than the Tribest juicer (see below), and at a much more affordable price point too.

Pros

  • The extra celery cap really helps to achieve maximum juice extraction.
  • Massive 15 year warranty says much about the build quality and design.
  • Slow and steady RPM operation results in great extraction.
  • This particular Omega works well with dense produce and tough leafy greens.

Cons

  • The juice definitely benefits from an extra strain before drinking.
  • Celery extraction is generally better than other fruits and vegetables.
  • A little harder to clean than other Omega models I’ve reviewed.
  • Some prep work required before you can feed produce in.
  • No instruction manual. You’ll have to look up the operating details online.

Tribest GSE-5050 Greenstar Complete Masticating Juicer

If you have a very generous budget then you’ll find the Tribest GSE-5050 to be the best celery juicer.

The company’s established a reputation for making extremely high quality, high performance juicers, but that quality definitely comes at a price.

For that money though, you get some of the most efficient extraction engineering possible.

The Twin Gear system works to replicate the chewing motion of your own teeth, and makes light work of even very tough ingredients like leafy greens and carrots.

A clever concoction of recesses and points on the gears replicates molars for crushing produce, incisors for slicing, and canines for cutting string cellulose.

Twin gear juicers are high-end stuff, in other words, and this machine is guaranteed to get the maximum juice extraction possible from celery – or just about anything else you feed it.

It’s not the slowest machine on the market, and the 200 Watt motor keeps the mechanism turning at 110 RPM. There’s minimal heat generation and oxidation though, ensuring an outstanding nutritional drink.

Out of the box you get all the accessories you need, including cleaning brushes, a juicing screen collection for tackling different jobs, and a scraper tool that makes cleaning up much easier.

Although this juicer requires a pretty significant up-front investment, Tribest backs that up with a 12 year guarantee and great customer service.

If you’re sure you’re going to be doing a lot of home juicing (and you can afford the initial price of entry), you may well find this one to be good value for money in the long run.

Pros

  • Exceptionally well-engineered extraction system.
  • A high quality build backed up with a generous warranty.
  • All the accessories you need for multiple juicing jobs are included.
  • Easy to disassemble and reassemble after cleaning.

Cons

  • One of the more expensive juicers for celery that I’ve reviewed.
  • Can be quite noisy depending on the produce you’re working with.
  • A large appliance, so you’ll need some countertop space to work with.
  • Although easy to take apart for cleaning, the parts are not diswasher safe.

Cuisinart CJE 1000

Like the Aicok juicer I reviewed earlier in this guide, the Cuisinart CJE 1000 offers one of the more affordable paths into celery juicing.

It’s a little more user-friendly, however, which is something you’d expect from a brand like Cuisinart.

Cuisinart Juicer Machine, Die-Cast Juice...
  • 1000-watt 5-speed juice extractor with large 3-inch feeding chute
  • Control dial with blue LED light ring; anti-drip adjustable flow spout; easy unlock and lift system
  • Foam-reducing filter basket; die-cast and stainless-steel housing; dishwasher-safe parts
  • Includes 2-liter pulp container, 1-quart juice pitcher, and cleaning brush
  • Product Built to North American Electrical Standards

It still operates at a slow and steady space, but there are a five different speed settings to play with.

That makes it very attractive for juicing newcomers in particular. You just choose the produce you want to juice (be that celery or something else), then choose the most appropriate speed setting.

The machine then takes care of the rest, and produces an impressively high juice yield.

The three inch feed chute minimizes prep time, and there’s a generous two liter pulp container that’s easy to clean.

The one liter juice pitcher is suitable for storing in the refrigerator too. That’s useful when you want to make a juice batch that will last a few days.

Does the CJE-1000 offer the kind of nutrient yield you’ll get from machines that cost many times more? No, but it’s a pretty close thing if you really can’t justify the cost of a premium juicer.

In terms of convenience and accessibility, it’s very hard to go wrong here. This is the best juicer for newcomers, and at a price point that’s hard to argue with.

Pros

  • Large pulp and juice containers for preparing bigger batches of celery juice.
  • Easy to use, with dedicated speed settings.
  • 3 year warranty is more generous than most at this price.
  • Tasty, pulp-free juice.

Cons

  • Expect a lower yield from this appliance than the other juicers I’ve reviewed.
  • A little fiddly to disassemble and reassemble after cleaning.
  • Not the best juicer overall if you’re an advanced user.

What I Look For In A Juicer For Celery

There are lots of trade-offs to consider for your own circumstances. You should find the next section useful when it comes to narrowing down your options.

If you want to continue researching your options for buying the best juicer for celery, keep the following in mind.

Centrifugal or Masticating?

Before you do anything else, you’re going to have to decide whether you want a masticating juicer, or a centrifugal juicer. These are the two main types of juicer you’ll find on the market.

Masticating Juicers For Celery

Masticating juicers work by slowly chomping and chewing through celery and other vegetables. They’re great for getting every last drop of juice out of the produce.

The auger (a screw-like component) is turned at a very slow speed by the motor. As you add produce to the feeder chute, the auger chews through the contents very efficiently.

You get a much bigger yield from this slower process too, which will help you save money on your grocery bills.

It’s because of this slow pace that the quality of the celery juice is improved as well.

Less heat is produced during the process, which helps to preserve the nutritional value of the juice.

As they move so slowly, they also avoid introducing lots of oxygen into the drink. Oxygen reduces the antioxidants in the juice, which is one of the big benefits of drinking celery juice.

The flip side, of course, is that the process takes much longer than it would using a centrifugal celery juicer.

If you can make a big batch of juice in one sitting, a masticating slow juicer can work very well. I won’t keep freshly squeezed juice for longer than 3 days, but if you can fit your juicing requirements within a twice-weekly schedule, that’s just fine.

(One final thing to note: A slower appliance is a quieter appliance. Something to think about if you’re the first one up in your household each morning!)

Centrifugal Juicers For Celery

Centrifugal juicers for celery trade extraction quality and quantity for speed and convenience.

Once you’ve added your ingredients and hit the On switch, a centrifugal juicer will spin the contents around extremely quickly, and tear everything to pieces.

They are simply much faster than masticating juicers. If a slow juicer is a bicycle, a centrifugal juicer is a Ferrari.

If they’re great for fast turnaround, they’re less good when it comes to the actual juice.

Unless you’re a real juice connoisseur though, I think you’ll still be pleased with the results. Don’t let it put you off completely.

I also think it’s important to be realistic about how much time you have to dedicate to juicing.

If opting for a centrifugal juicer will mean you get more use out of it, then that can only be a good thing in my book.

There’s an extra final benefit to buying a centrifugal juicer too. Because the mechanisms are simpler, they typically cost less money than a masticating equivalent.

Which Type Of Juicer Should You Choose?

If you can make and store a larger batch ahead of time, you’ll find the best juicers for celery are masticating slow juicers. You’ll get a better celery juice from it, in greater quantities, and with minimal waste from the ingredients you buy.

If you need to get a smaller batch of celery juice together quickly though, a centrifugal juicer is going to be the better choice.

It’s a system of trade-offs really. I would recommend thinking hard about how much time you really have to dedicate to the process, and whether you’ll end up being frustrated by a slower celery juicer.

Ease of Use & Maintenance

By design, masticating juicers tend to be more complicated to disassemble and reassemble during the clean-up process. There are just more moving parts involved, and they’re often bulkier too.

It’s something you’re going to have to live with, but the advantage of a slow juicer is that you can at least get a high yield – and make a bigger batch – each time you fire it up.

Beyond that, most people consider vertical juicers to be easier to work with than horizontal juicers.

That’s because the taller models tend to have smaller components, which makes cleaning easier.

There’s another benefit to owning a vertical juicer as well.

You’re likely more limited by horizontal countertop space in your home kitchen than vertical. You’re more likely to keep a narrower appliance out on the countertop permanently, which means you’re likely to get more use out of it.

We’re all guilty of keeping a collection of dusty kitchenware tucked away in cupboards. Don’t let your celery juicer be your next passing fad!

Container Design & Materials

Make sure that the collection container that comes with your celery juicer is large enough to handle the quantities you’re likely to work with.

Of course, this goes hand in hand with the size of the appliance overall. You’ll need to strike a balance between capacity and the impact on your countertop.

In terms of material, it’s extremely hard to find appliance plastic that isn’t BPA free, but it’s worth double checking the listing just in case.

Although the FDA has determined there’s no great contamination risk from BPA, the industry’s already reacted hard.

It’s just not worth manufacturers using anything but BPA-free plastic, and is the most common container material you’ll encounter.

Build Quality & Durability

Celery juicers aren’t cheap, and so I’d recommend sticking to the trusted brands while you’re shopping around.

All of the celery juicers I’ve reviewed for this guide come from reputable brands. In terms of quality and longevity, it’s just not worth going too far off the beaten path here.

In terms of durability – and this is just a very general guideline – masticating juicers typically last longer than centrifugal juicers

They run at a much lower speed, and so less strain is placed on the components.

They do tend to cost more money up-front though, but if you can justify the investment (and the countertop space) for a masticating slow juicer then it’s probably the better option.

Price & Warranty

We all have to work within our budgets, and you’ll need to balance quality and features with the price you have in mind.

With that said, think really carefully about what you’re going to need your celery juicer to do now and in the future. It’s never worth buying extra features just for the sake of it.

Don’t ignore the warranty either. Certain brands like Tribest and Omega offer extremely generous warranties, based on the confidence they have in their own design and manufacturing.

It can often be a false economy to go with the cheapest option. A celery juicer that lasts a decade or more will pay for the extra upfront cost many times over.

If you’re going to be juicing celery and other fruits and vegetables daily, it’s probably worth stretching your budget towards machines that will be able to take that sort of strain.

Frequently Asked Questions

I wanted to wrap up this guide by answering some of the common questions people have about drinking celery juice.

Why Should You Juice Celery Rather Than Eat It?

The simple answer is that you can drink a lot more celery juice than you can realistically eat in its raw, whole form.

If you find the taste a little lacking, but you want the benefits, you can also blend it with something you find more palatable.

This is true of all juice ingredients, but don’t discount the importance of eating plenty of raw fruit and vegetables either.

You lose a lot of fiber as part of the juicing process, so make sure you continue chewing through your five a day the hard way!

Why Is Celery Juice Good For You?

As Healthline summarized in a recent article:

“Celery juice is an excellent source of many nutrients, including calcium, potassium, and vitamins A, C and K.”

Other benefits include increased hydration due to the water content of celery, a lower sugar content overall, and anti-inflammatory properties too.

To be clear I’m not a doctor, and Viva Flavor is not a health site. My personal attitude to my own diet though is “everything in moderation”.

I’m not qualified to comment on fad diets or fasts, but in the long run I’m always worker my way towards a better, balanced diet.

Can Celery Juice Make You Sick?

Too much of anything in your diet can leave you feeling poorly, and celery juice is no exception.

Medical News Today notes a few well-reported side-effects of overdoing your intake of celery juice:

  • Psoralen – Celery contains this chemical, which reacts to sunlight. Consuming too much of it can make your skin more sensitive to ultraviolet light, and risk sun damage as a result.
  • Allergies – An allergy to celery is more common than you might think! The effect ranges from anaphylaxis to stomach upset.
  • Salt – Celery has quite a high sodium level. It’s fine to eat every day in moderation, but be mindful of this added salt intake.

Can Celery Juice Be Frozen?

Fresh is always best in my book. That said, the little you’ll lose by freezing your celery juice is easily outweighed by the convenience of preparing a bigger batch in advance.

If you have the time to assemble, process, disassemble, clean, then reassemble your juicing machine every day, by all means focus on fresh!

For the rest of us though, you can freeze celery juice just as you can any other juice.

Can You Make Celery Juice Without A Juicer?

Your only real option here is to make use of a blender. If you haven’t got a blender, be prepared to squeeze a lot of celery and waste a lot of produce in the process.

If you have access to a blender you can try chopping, then blitzing the celery until it’s reached a reasonably palatable texture.

You really will want a strainer to hand if you go down this route though. Press the contents through the strainer first and you’ll enjoy a much better drink.
