The Best Juicing Books In 2024

It’s very easy to start off with the best intentions after buying a juicer, only to become bored after making the same old juices again and again.

Variety is definitely the spice of life when it comes to keeping up the juicing habit. A good juicing book will provide you with a steady stream of inspiration, and keep those good intentions moving forwards.

With that in mind, I wanted to highlight some of the best juicing books you can add to your collection.

(Want to learn more about juicing and blending? Take a look through my collection of guides and reviews.)

Why You Need A Juicing Book In Your Kitchen

Throw a rock at the internet and you’ll hit a juicing recipe site very quickly!

The problem is that many of these healthy recipes simply aren’t much to write home about.

A lot more effort has to go into a recipe book before it’s sold for money, and then reviewed by critical owners! They’re often organised as collections for tackling specific health concerns as well.

Rather than making lots of inferior juice, I believe it’s more productive to invest a small amount of money in a solid, professional collection of juice recipes.

A Quick Summary Of The Best Juicing Books

Before moving onto the actual reviews, I thought it would be useful to provide a very quick snapshot of my top picks.

Some books focus on providing a huge variety of recipes, while others are more lifestyle-orientated.

To help you choose the right one for you, I’ve highlighted a few that I think work really well in different circumstances.

The Best Juicing Book For Lifestyle Change

“I don’t hesitate to recommend The Reboot with Joe Juice Diet by Joe Cross if you need inspiration as well as juicing recipes. Joe knows what he’s talking about, having made his name with the documentary Fat Sick And Nearly Dead. Part inspiration and part education, this is a fantastic starting point if you’re looking to turn your diet and lifestyle around.”

The Best Juicing Book For Variety

“It might not pack the largest number of juicing recipes, but for sheer variety I recommend Crazy Sexy Juice By Kris Carr. As well as covering all the important juicing bases, Carr also includes plenty of delicious smoothies and nut / milks. If you love your juice but need to mix things up a little, definitely give this one a look.”

Juicing Book Reviews

If all you needed was a summary, feel free to jump in on either of the books I’ve listed above. Either one will do a great job of helping you along in your juicing journey.

In the next section of this round-up I’ve taken a closer look at each of these books, as well as a couple of alternatives you might want to consider adding to your collection as well.

Juicing For Beginners

If your main goal right now is weight loss, Juicing For Beginners should prove a very useful resource.

It starts off with all the guidance you need to begin a detox, along with plenty of information on what you should expect from the detox process.

There’s also plenty of information about the health benefits of juice life, along with information on the health benefits of each ingredient.

That’s backed up with 100 juice recipes that cover a decent amount of ground across fruits and vegetables and green-based juices. There aren’t a lot of pictures though – not a deal-breaker for a recipe book like this, but that might be a negative for you.

If you’re completely new to juice making, there’s some very useful information about the different types of juicer you can buy on the market as well.

Less helpfully, there isn’t a lot of information on preparing your fruit and vegetable produce for the final juice. That might leave you a little unsure of what to do when working with some of the more unusual ingredients.

A quick summary section for prepping different ingredients would have made a big difference here in my opinion.

Pros

  • One of the best books if you’re just getting started with detoxing and juicing for weight loss.
  • Useful information on juicing machine types and ingredient health benefits.
  • A decent collection of recipes that covers a lot of bases.

Cons

  • Some of the printing in this book is quite small. Not ideal if this is for someone with weak eyesight.
  • Although a lot of the preparation work is simple, certain ingredients would definitely benefit from a quick explanatory note.
  • A good selection of recipes, but less guidance on how to combine those recipes to achieve specific goals.

The Reboot With Joe Juice Diet – Joe Cross

It’s impossible to talk about the best books for juicing without invoking the name of Joe Cross!

Joe found fame through his documentary Fat Sick and Nearly Dead. Documenting his journey out of obesity and other health concerns, it’s proved an inspiration for many people since its release in 2010.

The Reboot With Joe Juice Diet carries on in a similar vein. The book contains a generous collection of juice recipes, along with an almighty dose of motivation as well.

That makes this book a very easy recommendation if you need more than just juicing ideas, have recognized that your lifestyle needs a serious boot up the behind, but you need some helping delivering it!

This is very much a case of someone putting their money where their mouth is. The recipes are fantastic and easy to follow, the information is engaging and inspiring, and there are clear juicing diet plans to follow as well.

If you’re looking to go on a juicing journey to achieve weight loss or improve an assortment of health conditions, Joe’s the guy to lead you by the hand. Highly recommended.

Pros

  • Actionable advice from someone who’s demonstrably turned their life around.
  • Includes inspirational stories from others who’ve successfully followed the guidance provided by this book.
  • The book includes a varied diet plan collection for 3, 5, 10, 15 or 30 day reboots. If you’re not interested in glugging fruit juices every day forever, these are ideal for finding your feet!

Cons

  • Less recipes in this book than you’ll find elsewhere.
  • A few indexing issues are annoying, such as the plans not making it clear where the recipes can be found.
  • Many people find the juicing plans to be very hard work.

The Healthy Green Drink Diet By Jason Manheim

As you can probably guess from the title, this book has a particular focus on making drinks using common green produce.

Put it this way, if the thought of liquidized kale, cucumber and spinach doesn’t float your boat, then this probably isn’t the best book for you!

If you love the sound of that though, I think this book is excellent for beginners in particular.

The instructions and recipes are extremely clear for a start. You don’t even need a juicer for many of the recipes either, which is very handy when you want to improve your diet but don’t have a lot of money to throw around.

With more than 250,000 copies sold to date, this is very easy to recommend if you’re in the hunt for the perfect green juice or smoothie.

Pros

  • Simple recipes with clear, easy to understand instructions.
  • Many of the recipes can be made without buying a dedicated juicer.
  • A great option for those who want to focus entirely on green juicing.

Cons

  • Because of the “green” focus it can’t be considered an all-round juicing book.
  • Some ingredients are a little exotic and might be hard for you to track down.
  • Many of the recipe results are okay…but a little unspectacular in terms of flavor.

Crazy Sexy Juice By Kris Carr

Crazy Sexy Juice covers a huge variety of juice types, and also contains lots of ideas for making smoothies and nut / seed milks.

Suffice to say, there’s enough here to keep you busy for about as long as you can keep the habit up!

On that subject, the book also contains plenty of advice about how to actually change your bad habits into good ones. It’s not quite as motivational as the Joe Cross book, but I think it’s a great starting point nevertheless.

As well as providing over 100 recipes, there’s also a section dedicated to explaining how different foods affect your lifestyle. You’ll find that useful if you want to address a specific problem with your diet.

One annoying aspect of the book though is that some of the recipes need the kind of ingredients you’re not likely to find in the typical grocery store.

If you want to explore everything the book has to offer, you’ll need to have access to a local health store. If not, you’ll find yourself locked out of some of the more interesting recipes.

Pros

  • A great collection of juicing recipes that cover the most important ground.
  • Lots of helpful information to help you prepare and store your produce.
  • Useful insight into how different food types affect your lifestyle.

Cons

  • There’s quite a lot of small print to navigate here.
  • You may find some ingredients tricky to track down.

What I Look For In A Juicing Book

I went through a phase of buying far too many kitchen books. The end result was wasted money and a major clear out.

I’m a lot more discerning when it comes to recipe books now. When it comes to juicing in particular, it pays to keep the following in mind:

Lost Of Juicing Recipes….And Lots Of Ingredients Too

You’re bound to pick up a few favorites that you turn to time and time again. A good juicing book will help you branch out and stay motivated though.

I like my juicing books to offer lots of recipes, and feature plenty of juicing recipes built around particular ingredients.

That makes it much easier to step out of your comfort zone and try something new, without making something that puts you off your habit for good.

Will It Help You Achieve Your Goals?

Many recipe books offer nothing but a generous collection of tried and tested juicing recipes that deliver variety and quality. This is the kind of recipe book most everyday juicers will be interested in.

Others are designed for achieving specific goals. You might be juicing for weight loss, for example, or short-term detoxing.

I’m not a doctor, and so I would certainly encourage you to check out the credentials of the authors thoroughly in this case. You should also consult your doctor if you have medical concerns.

Finally, there are juicing books that focus harder on a very narrow range of ingredients.

As always it’s just a case of working out what it is you want to achieve, and then buying a book that will help you achieve it.

Can It Help You Get Better At Juicing?

Juicing might sound like an incredibly simple hobby. Add your ingredients, hit the button on your juicer and let the machine do all the hard work, right?

Not all juicers are as simple to use as others though.

Masticating juicers, for example, require you to feed produce in at a certain rate, and in a certain order if you want to avoid blockages and maximize extraction yield.

If you’re looking to develop your juicing skills, make sure the book you buy has plenty of advice that goes beyond just juicing recipes.

So, Which Is The Best Juicing Book?

You can check the summary at the top of this article for my specific recommendations.

If you’re completely new to juicing and want to make some big changes to your lifestyle, I don’t think you can go wrong with The Reboot With Joe Juice Diet.
